Corringham
(1971 - )
Perhaps it was the introduction of the Rent Act in 1965 or the unfavourable economic climate in the late 1960s that led Hector Properties Investments to sell Hector House. In 1971 a company called Malman Securities Ltd purchased the freehold of the land and of the building, which was renamed Corringham.
Most of the existing company tenancies at Corringham expired around that time and in 1972 a large number of apartments were released for sale on 99-year leases. Estate agents Druce & Company marketed the maisonettes, and prospective buyers queued up at their Mayfair office. In the following years most flats were sold as leasehold properties; only a few are still let.
The current freeholders, Central & Metropolitan Estates, acquired Corringham and the land on which it stands in 1974.
