Corringham
Corringham is a modernist residential apartment block in Bayswater, Central London. It was designed by Kenneth Frampton in 1960-62 and Grade II listed in 1998.
The building is special not only because of its elegant modernist exterior. Each of its 48 one- and two bedroom apartments is arranged over four levels and the flats interconnect in a complicated way. This unique scissor design allows all flats to have west-facing living rooms with sunset views, while all bedrooms overlook the quiet communal gardens. It also reduces the volume of the block without compromising the size of the apartments; five access corridors suffice to service all eight floors of the building.
